TODDLER PROGRAM
A curated and age-appropriate programme for consistent early childhood stimulation for toddlers starting from 18 months onwards. The curriculum focuses on sensorial stimulation, gross motor development, practical life skills, fine motor skills, language development, storytelling, rhymes, art and dance through a range of playful and thoughtful activities. Under the guidance and care of a trained and empathetic educator, toddlers receive the opportunity to interact with each other, thus developing their socio-emotional skills. At Shanti Niketan Early Years we believe strongly that diversity of stimuli consistently given to young children is the key to their overall physical, mental and emotional development.
Nursery Program
Program for 3 – 4 year olds uses a multifaceted approach to maximise this critical phase of rapid brain development and learning. Children’s brains have two main growth spurts: the first occurs around age 2 while the second one occurs during adolescence. During these critical periods, children experience radical brain development. The number of neural connections or synapses between neurons doubles. In fact, 2 year olds have double the number of synapses as adults, making this time an opportunity for children to learn more and faster than any other time. At Shanti Niketan Early Years, our Nursery programme for 3 – 4 year olds is focused on making the most out of this prime opportunity by using a multifaceted approach.
Kindergarten Program
The program nurtures independence, curiosity, values, and social skills, empowering children to take ownership of their growth with confidence and joy. The kindergarten programme is for children aged 4 – 6 years.
Aims of the Kindergarten Programme:
1. To promote independence, self-reliance and self-management in the child
2. To develop an inquiry mindset in the child, support her natural curiosity, and foster a lifelong love for learning
3. To develop a love for going to school so that the child never feels forced or pushed into attending school.
4. To develop good habits and good morals which will help her become a responsible, thoughtful, empathetic, and helpful individual.
5. To foster a sense of agency in the child when it comes to her own learning through the exercise of choice in learning.
6. To encourage the development of good social skills so that she can form deep and lasting bonds with others. In order to achieve the above mentioned goals, our kindergarten programme offers mixed age group classrooms along with weekly field trips that encourage peer learning and interaction, social skills development, responsibility and real world skills.
Junior Program
The Junior School focuses on providing all round development to the child between the ages of 6 to 10. Cognitive development theory says that this age group is ready and eager to explore logical thought, problem solving and experimentation. Socio – emotionally, they are able to be more empathetic and while also wanting to assert their individuality in a group. Keeping these in mind, the Junior School curriculum focuses more on hands-on, experimentative learning in all academic areas such that children feel excited and enthused by what they are learning. An equal weightage is given to non-academic activities which provide children with ample opportunities to shine as individuals as well as navigate social relationships. Our Junior School follows the Cambridge IGCSE curriculum.
